EASTON RESIDENT LIFETIME COIN COLLECTION AUCTION
Description
25 sequential $2 Red Seal Notes from 1963. These are legal tender notes featuring Thomas Jefferson on the front and Monticello (Jefferson's home) on the back. What makes them particularly special is that they are sequential - meaning their serial numbers follow in numerical order.
Looking at the serial numbers they all begin with "A12220" followed by sequential numbers, and end with "A". The red seal and serial numbers are distinctive features of these 1963 series notes, which were the last $2 bills to feature red seals before the transition to green seals in the 1976 series.
These sequential sets are particularly valued by collectors because they demonstrate original uncirculated condition and complete serial number runs. Having a full set of 25 sequential notes is quite impressive, as most notes would have been separated through circulation.
