Description
The images show two Kennedy Half Dollar coins from different years - a 1974-S (San Francisco mint) and a 1968-D (Denver mint). The obverse (front) of both coins features the left-facing profile portrait of President John F. Kennedy, with the inscription "IN GOD WE TRUST" below. The reverse (back) displays the Presidential Seal featuring an eagle with wings spread, holding an olive branch and arrows, with "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and "HALF DOLLAR" around the rim. The 1974-S coin shows some slight toning or discoloration on the surface, which is normal for silver coins of this age. The 1968-D appears to have a brighter, more uniform finish. Both coins maintain sharp strikes with good detail preservation in Kennedy's hair and the eagle's feathers. Both of these coins were minted after 1965, so they would be composed of the copper-nickel clad composition (outer layers of 75% copper and 25% nickel bonded to a pure copper core) rather than the 90% silver composition used in 1964 and earlier Kennedy Half Dollars.
