EASTON RESIDENT LIFETIME COIN COLLECTION AUCTION
Description
The Mercury dime was minted from 1916 to 1945 and features Liberty wearing a winged cap on the obverse (front) side, which led to the popular nickname "Mercury dime" due to its resemblance to the Roman god Mercury. The reverse side, which is visible in the bottom row of the third image, shows a fasces (a bundle of rods) with an olive branch, symbolizing unity and peace.
The dates range primarily through the 1930s and 1940s, with coins from years including 1935, 1937, 1939, 1941, 1942, 1943, 1944, and 1945. The coins appear to be in circulated condition, showing typical wear but still with clear details visible.
These dimes were made of 90% silver and 10% copper, which is why they have that distinctive silver coloring, even after decades of circulation. They're popular among collectors both for their historical significance and their silver content.
