EASTON RESIDENT LIFETIME COIN COLLECTION AUCTION
Description
The obverse (front) features Benjamin Franklin while the reverse shows the Liberty Bell and a small eagle.
These coins are composed of 90% silver and 10% copper, which gave them significant intrinsic value beyond their face value of 50 cents. The Franklin Half Dollar series was relatively short-lived, being replaced by the Kennedy Half Dollar in 1964 following President Kennedy's assassination.
The design elements include:
- Obverse: Portrait of Benjamin Franklin, "LIBERTY" above, "IN GOD WE TRUST" below, and the date
- Reverse: Liberty Bell, "E PLURIBUS UNUM", "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA", "HALF DOLLAR", and a small eagle (which was required by law for all U.S. silver coins)
Condition
All property is sold in "as is" condition and all sales are final. Teel Auctions and its consignor make no representations or warranties, express or implied, with respect to the property or the correctness of the catalog or other description of the authenticity.
