EASTON RESIDENT LIFETIME COIN COLLECTION AUCTION
Description
The images show both sides of a 1 troy ounce fine silver bar produced by Johnson Matthey Assayers & Refiners. The front shows their "JM" logo with crossed hammers, and indicates it's .999 fine silver with a serial number 646286. The reverse side has a repeating pattern of the JM logo with crossed hammers.
Johnson Matthey is a well-known and reputable precious metals refiner with a long history in the industry. Their silver bars are recognized and traded globally. The "999" marking indicates this is extremely pure silver, containing 99.9% silver content, which is considered investment or bullion grade.
The use of troy ounces (rather than regular ounces) is standard for precious metals - one troy ounce is approximately 31.1 grams, slightly heavier than a regular ounce. The crossed hammers in their logo are traditional symbols of mining and metallurgy.
The bar appears to be well-preserved though it shows some normal wear and toning that's typical of silver bars. These types of bars are popular among precious metals investors and collectors due to Johnson Matthey's strong reputation in the industry.
