Description
This is a beautifully preserved 1921 Morgan Silver Dollar, displaying both the iconic obverse and reverse designs in remarkable detail. The front of the coin features the classical profile of Liberty, her hair flowing elegantly beneath a Phrygian cap adorned with leaves. Her portrait is encircled by thirteen stars, representing America's original colonies, with "E PLURIBUS UNUM" gracefully arched above. The reverse side presents a majestic American eagle with its wings spread wide, clutching olive branches in its talons - a timeless symbol of American strength and peace. The national motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" is prominently displayed, along with "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and the denomination "ONE DOLLAR." A delicate beaded border frames both sides of the coin. This particular example from 1921 holds special historical significance as it represents the final year of the Morgan Dollar's production. The Morgan Dollar series, which began in 1878, had initially ended in 1904 before this one-year revival in 1921. After this, the design was replaced by the Peace Dollar. The coin is crafted from an alloy of 90% silver and 10% copper, measuring 38.1mm in diameter and weighing 26.73 grams. The exceptional preservation of this specimen allows us to fully appreciate George T. Morgan's classic design, which has become one of the most beloved in American numismatic history.
