EASTON RESIDENT LIFETIME COIN COLLECTION AUCTION
Description
The obverse (front) features Lady Liberty wearing a radiant crown, facing left, with the word "LIBERTY" above and the date 1922 below. The inscription "IN GOD WE TRUST" is also visible.
The reverse shows a majestic bald eagle perched on a rock with an olive branch, symbolizing peace, with rays of sunlight in the background. The words "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" appear along the top edge.
The Peace Dollar was first minted in 1921 to commemorate the peace following World War I. It was designed by Anthony de Francisci, and 1922 was the first full year of production. The coin is composed of 90% silver and 10% copper, with a diameter of 38.1mm.
This particular coin appears to be relatively well-preserved, with clear detail visible in Liberty's hair and the eagle's feathers, though it shows some signs of circulation wear. The coin has a distinctive satin-like luster characteristic of Peace Dollars from this era.
